A GROUP of Port Elizabeth bikers is trekking to De Aar and back to raise funds for a walking aid for the Merryvale School for Disabled Children in Mangold Park, Nelson Mandela Bay.
The organiser of the ride, Ian Meaker, and Eastern Cape Motors dealer principal Alan Percy, handed over the R7000 Kaye Walker to the school before the start of their journey yesterday.
Merryvale school physiotherapist Christelle Boolsen, who took delivery of the walker, said they were very grateful because the school depended on donations, especially for expensive equipment.
“The bikers called the school, wanting to give something. We are grateful because we did not ask for a donation, they just provided it.
“The walker will be used in physiotherapy for disabled children to exercise with.”
