Arrest warrant baffles angler

IT is a case of either snarled lines of communication or of the big fish that got away for the Fisheries branch of the Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (DAFF), which netted a prominent member of a top Nelson Mandela Bay angling club for allegedly exceeding his fishing quota earlier this year.

A warrant of arrest has been issued for the owner of Port Elizabeth harbour- based Big John Fishing Charters and Port Elizabeth Deep Sea Angling Club (Pedsac) vice-chairman John Allan after he allegedly failed to pay a fine of R950, issued after he was caught exceeding his catch limit in May.

Allan yesterday attributed the warrant to a possible administrative error.
