BETHELSDORP Comprehensive High School in Port Elizabeth’s northern areas is boasting a new media centre, thanks to assistance given by former Miss PE Beverley Strydom.
Strydom, 42, said she realised the school needed a media centre to ensure a brighter technological future for its pupils.
Now an account manager at information technology company DataCentrix, Strydom attended Gelvandale primary and high schools and felt this was a means for her to plough back into her community.
“I grew up in Gelvandale and we never had such opportunities. I decided to use the contacts I had to make a difference in pupils’ lives,” she said. “Through my IT [information technology] work, I saw that there was a need to set up a media centre for this school.”
The centre has Wi-Fi connectivity, a printer and fax machine and 24 tablets.
