Ex-head of ICD set to move on

HAVING survived allegations of fraud and a humiliating demotion from top dog of the provincial police regulatory body, Advocate Sakhele Poswa has emerged stronger than ever.

Following a mantra of “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”, Poswa turned down his reinstatement at the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) to join the bar as a practising advocate.

Poswa, 46, was acquitted of fraud in June last year, following allegations that he had inflated his company petrol claims to pocket more than R20000 between 2007 and 2008.

Poswa, who was the Eastern Cape head of the then Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD), maintained his innocence throughout. He believes he was targeted through politics and then “persecuted” by his employer.
