Prof honoured to serve on top committee

A NELSON Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) academic who has been selected to serve on a ministerial committee by Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Ndzimande hopes to bridge the gap between Further Education and Training facilities (FETs) and universities.

Professor Heather Nel, senior director at the department of institutional planning at NMMU, will contribute advice based on curriculum research conducted at the varsity in collaboration with FET college colleagues.

“It is a wonderful honour to be selected to serve on this strategically important ministerial committee,” she said.

The 40-year-old Sunridge Park professor was invited to serve on the Ministerial Committee on Articulation Policy in May and accepted the invitation last month.
