Hunter’s offer to orphan

A TRAGIC hunting accident on an Eastern Cape farm left a seven-year-old child without a father, a distraught hunter said before court yesterday.

Marius Fourie, 39, who shot and killed a farmworker while hunting for buck on Wellfound Farm, Jansenville, has offered financial compensation to the victim’s family in exchange for a non-custodial sentence.

Fourie, from Pretoria, appeared briefly in the Jansenville Regional Court yesterday morning, where he is facing a charge of culpable homicide.
