THE second day of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University’s Diversity Month saw students come together to celebrate multiculturalism.
Cultural pride was on the agenda, as well as cultural exchange and integration. The Crew, a hip-hop dance group, entertained a crowd of students at the university’s Second Avenue campus on Friday, when the event began.
Mzikazi Noholoza, who is the Student Life manager and co-organiser of the event with the arts and culture department, said Diversity Month was aimed at growing both cultural awareness and pride.
The Tsonga, Sotho, Xhosa, Zulu and coloured communities featured, with each bringing food unique to their group. They also spoke to the students about their cultures.
