Last chance to enter Matric of the Year

TODAY is the last chance for top pupils to enter The Herald Matric of the Year competition, with prizes totalling R145000 on offer.

Entries close at noon.

The judges will start sifting through the entries on Wednesday to select the 20 finalists.

Each finalist will then be interviewed.

None of the finalists will walk away empty- handed.

They will each receive a three-month subscription to The Herald, a gift hamper to the value of R500 and a two-month gym contract.

Walmer Park Shopping Centre is also giving each finalist a R250 shopping voucher.

The top matric and scholarship award winners and their schools will also get a year’s subscription to The Herald.

The overall winner’s school will also receive a R50000 advertising voucher for use in The Herald.

The Matric of the Year winner will receive an undergraduate bursary from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), while the scholarship winner will receive an undergraduate scholarship for a first degree or diploma of their choice.

This will cover all application, registration and tuition fees.

The sports category winner will get a R10000 sports bursary.

The top matric will also receive a R5772 graduation dinner prize package with which to treat 25 guests to a three-course meal courtesy of Fat Cats Catering and hosted by Villa Tuscana.

Proline Computers is giving laptops and tablets worth R15000 to the overall winner and category award winners.

The scholarship award winner’s school will get a R15000 photocopying machine from Docufin.

The two top matrics will also each walk away with a seven-inch tablet worth R4000 from Vodacom. Walmer Park Shopping Centre is giving the category winners a R500 voucher each, while the overall and scholarship award winners get R2000 and R1000 vouchers respectively.

Rafi’s Appliances and Mattresses will give the top two a Russell Hobbs 20-litre microwave worth R899 each, while each category and scholarship winner’s school will get a toaster and kettle set also valued at R899 each.

Profiles Health Club will give the Matric of the Year winner a year’s contract and a health spa voucher worth more than R2500.

The category winners will get a three-month gym membership worth R870, while each finalist gets a two-month gym contract worth R680.

Other prizes include vouchers of R640 for each category winner from Van Schaik Bookstore and stationery packs and a printer for the scholarship winner from stationers Waltons.
