A GELVANDALE family had a traumatic experience yesterday when police Tactical Response Team (TRT) members ransacked their house, allegedly in search of their son – who died about six weeks ago.
Doy Nell, 47, had just walked his wife Sarah, 44, to the bus stop, as he does every day, and was heading towards his Terblanche Street home at about 6.40am when he saw the TRT members outside.
“As I came nearer, one of them threw a stun grenade through my front window. I rushed home and I discovered they had broken my front door padlock. Everything was upside down. They ransacked my place.
“I don’t know whether they thought my son was hiding under the bed,” Nell said.
The men said nothing and continued damaging the family’s belongings as they searched.
