Controversial AbaThembu king gets royal welcome to DA

THE controversial king of the AbaThembu jubilantly donned a blue DA shirt at the Bumbane Great Place near Qunu yesterday after becoming a card-carrying member of the party.

King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo – who recently called President Jacob Zuma “a nonsensical Zulu boy”, a feral cat and a skunk who “flushed his leaders like condoms” – welcomed Eastern Cape DA leader Athol Trollip to his rural Transkei home yesterday.

The two, along with a group of traditional leaders and elders, met behind closed doors in the Bumbane boardroom for almost two hours before the king announced he had ditched the ANC for the DA.

“It is no longer a rumour, but a reality that I have finally joined the DA,” the self-confessed dagga smoker said.
