BAIL has been denied to three men accused of beating two men to death during the recent violence in Port Elizabeth’s Booysen Park.
Yesterday, dozens of women dressed in traditional Xhosa outfits arrived at the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court with a petition asking magistrate Abigail Beeton to grant the three men bail.
Sibhuno Siyabulelo, 37, Vukile Dyele, 36, and Maxela Mputhumi, 33, apparently suspected the two men they are accused of murdering were members of the Big Nuz gang.
Speaking on behalf of the women, Nosimo Sobuza said they were pained by the “wrongful arrest of our community leaders”.
The men will remain in police custody and the case has been postponed to July 31.
