AS the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality steps up its “go green” campaign, it has called on all communities to make use of its mobile unit to promote recycling.
The green bus is fully fitted with a sound system, projector and flat screen and travels around different parts of the city teaching residents about recycling as an effective tool of waste management.
Acting director of public health Mamisa Chabula-Nxiweni said the project cost about R2-million.
“The emphasis is on recycling. The bus will be used for community education. People don’t have enough information on how waste is rendered.”
The All Hands on Waste bus also visits schools, where officials give lessons using colourful posters, jars displaying biodegradable material and information DVDs.
