THE fundraising efforts of a Nelson Mandela Bay family whose daughter, 2, is in need of hearing aids, have paid off and the little girl is due to get her audio equipment in August.
Partially deaf Taylor Dunnington, of Miramar, is well on her way to hearing after the last in a series of fundraisers at the weekend raised the balance needed to buy the R40000 hearing aids she needs.
More than R18000 was raised during the black-tie function at the Emmanuel Church in Lorraine on Saturday night, with the main donation of R10000 coming from Round Table Port Elizabeth No 8.
Taylor’s plight was highlighted earlier this year following the visit, and show of support, from national cricket hero Fanie De Villiers, whose own daughter got cochlear implants as a toddler.
