TWO Eastern Cape DA heavyweights took to the streets of one of the worst areas affected by poor service delivery in Nelson Mandela Bay to spread the party’s national “Know Your DA” campaign on Saturday.
Stutterheim constituency director Nosimo Balindlela and deputy provincial leader and MPL Bobby Stevenson visited Airport Valley in Walmer township, telling residents about the role the DA played during apartheid.
The numbers grew as they went house to house with mostly children following them.
Last year, Walmer township residents protested between May and October over broken promises and made parts of Walmer no-go areas.
Airport Valley is one of those areas still using the bucket system and has no formal electricity.
Balindlela, a former Eastern Cape premier and COPE member who joined the DA last year, admitted to having “neglected” the DA history when she was with the ANC.
