FOOTAGE of an entire troop of baboons ransacking a holiday house at Betty’s Bay in the Western Cape, filmed by a former Port Elizabeth man, has gone viral on the web.

The footage which shows Howard Fyvie, originally from Lorraine, filming while trying to defend the double- storey house from the baboons – which gained entry to the locked house through an upstairs window – has received nearly a million views on various social media websites since it was first released two weeks ago.

According to Fyvie, in the first four days after posting the video on YouTube, news of it exploded and after Time Magazine retweeted the link he received messages and calls from AOL, Yahoo, CNN and National Geographic Wild. Articles about the video have also appeared in international papers such as the Huffington Post and the Daily Mail and in publications in New Zealand and Brazil.
