FANS of the Southern Kings ignored pre-match appeals to behave sportingly and booed players at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at the weekend – and the jeers were not reserved only for the opposition.
While boos were aimed mainly at Blue Bulls flyhalf Morne Steyn in an effort to distract him when he was about to kick for the poles, Kings skipper Luke Watson was also targeted every time he had the ball in hand.
Eastern Province rugby director Alan Solomons declined to comment on the booing and referred questions to the club’s acting chief executive, Charl Crous, who also declined to comment.
