BARELY two months into the job, Nelson Mandela Bay municipal manager Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela will be dragged before council next month where some of the city’s politicians plan to grill her on her qualifications and the validity of her appointment.
UDM councillor Mongameli Bobani has submitted a motion to council Speaker Maria Hermans questioning whether Msengana-Ndlela meets government’s minimum requirements to do her job.
He has also questioned if she has a signed contract, approved by the council, with the municipality. If she and mayor Ben Fihla fail to adequately answer the questions, her fate would be in the hands of councillors, who would then debate a vote of no confidence in her.
Bobani is the single representative from his party in council, but has the support of some ANC leaders.
