Hunt is on for abandoned baby’s mom

A BABY boy found abandoned at Dora Nginza Hospital’s main gate has crept into the hearts of hospital staff. Officials are appealing to the community to help them find the mother of the baby. They have named him Unknown Saturday.

It is believed the infant was born last week. With his lazy smile he has managed to charm nurses in the ward and others in the busy hallways who stop to say hello to him.

Two passers-by found the crying baby under a bush near the main gate of the hospital on Saturday morning. He was wearing a yellow babygrow and yellow jersey, and was wrapped in two blankets.

The passers-by alerted hospital security who took the child to a hospital social worker, Pamela Rubushe.

She said the child was probably born late last week – on Thursday or Friday.

Anyone who may know the mother or family of the baby may contact Rubushe on (041)406-4328.
