Traffic staff pay gets green light

THE Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality yesterday committed to paying the Korsten traffic department workers their two months’ overtime money – ending the eight-day disruption in services.

The agreement to pay the January and February overtime money by Tuesday was reached between the SA Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) and municipal officials at a meeting at the traffic department. Administration and IPTS traffic officers are affected by the overtime issue.

Samwu regional chairman Xolani Tom said: “As Samwu we suspect there is a crisis with the municipal payroll – not that they do not want to pay the workers.
