Wayile, Sihlwayi death threats

NELSON Mandela Bay’s new bus system has been disrupted again as mayor Zanoxolo Wayile and his deputy, Nancy Sihlwayi, claim they are being threatened by “dark forces” – including some councillors – opposed to an investigation into the system’s missing millions.

The two told a full council meeting yesterday that people with loud-hailers had gone around parts of the city this week calling for them to be “eliminated”.

Because of the threats, the buses did not operate on Wednesday and yesterday, Wayile said.

He and Sihlwayi have also accused some councillors of spurring on taxi bosses to sabotage the long-awaited integrated public transport system (IPTS), which finally got off the ground on Monday.
