ANGRY Walmer township residents have had enough of their bucket toilets and are demanding that the municipality – which they accuse of neglecting them – does something about it.
This after they spent most of the festive season – including Christmas Day – fending off green flies and putting up with maggots after officials failed to collect and empty their toilet buckets for three weeks.
Residents in Endlovini G West had to resort to emptying the buckets themselves – causing a potential health hazard as the contents were strewn about in public areas used by the children.
Now, they are demanding that the municipality replaces their bucket system with Ventilated Improved Pit Latrines (VIP).
