HUNDREDS of girls tried their hand at surfing this weekend – in Plettenberg Bay on Saturday and Mossel Bay yesterday – as part of the Billabong Girls Get Out There summer tour, hosted by Billabong Girls SA with The Herald and Weekend Post.
Under the watchful eye of professional surfing coach Shannon Ainslie, the girls were put through their paces in the water with many of them standing for the first time.
SA Masters woman surfing champ Tasha Mentasti and the Billabong girl riders were on hand to ensure the beach games were a hit and that the girls learnt the importance of being kind to the environment by participating in the beach cleanup.
Revlon South Africa set up a funky nail bar where girls could have their nails done, while Island Tribe set up a sun block station to ensure everyone looked after their skin.
Thanks to sponsors Billabong, VonZipper, Kustom, Saltwater Girl, Nixon, Revlon, Island Tribe and Ola every girl went home with a prize.
Today, the tour hits Seal Point at Cape St Francis, Jeffreys Bay’s Dolphin Beach tomorrow and Hobie Beach on Wednesday.
Girls of all ages are invited to come down and enjoy the day with Billabong Girls SA. For more info visit Billabong Girls SA on Facebook.
