THE Old Post Office in Baakens Street, Port Elizabeth, has been given a new lease of life – a fact that was celebrated with a unique “Lunar Gala” evening that brought together some of the city’s prominent businessmen and women.
The evening was used to celebrate the renovations that have been made at the building by property developer Ken Denton.
The origin of the evening, held on November 21, dates back to the late 18th century in England where a group of people held regular meetings in a small house outside Birmingham. The meetings became known as the Lunar Society (idea- sharing evenings) and were usually held at full moon to help guide them back to Birmingham at the end of the evening think-tank session.
