THABISA Dube is a little girl with big dreams – and so far she has exceeded her dreams by raising more than double the funds she initially planned to for children less fortunate than herself.
The determined eight-year-old, of Hallack Place, Park Drive, Port Elizabeth, set out earlier this year to raise R21 600 to send 10 children to school at about R2 100 each.
So far, the Grade 2 Theodor Herzl Primary School pupil has raised nearly R50 000 – meaning more than 22 children will now have access to quality pre-school education.
Thabisa, an avid cyclist, competed in the Afrika Tikkun’s Each One Teach One campaign at the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge held in Johannesburg.
She handed over a cheque of R48 250 to children in Diepsloot the day before the race.
Thabisa said she was very proud to have raised so much for “other children to have as much as I do”.
