African foreigners flock to live in PE

THE number of foreigners living in Nelson Mandela Bay has increased by more than 2000, the latest census figures indicate.

According to Statistics South Africa the number of foreigners from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the rest of Africa was 5182 in 2001 and had increased to 7581 in the 2011 census.

The number of foreigners from the SADC who live in the metro has increased from 4398 in 2001 to 5642 in 2011.

The number of women from the SADC who lived in the Bay in 2001 was 2192 and decreased to 2162.
