A YOUNG designer’s water recycling system aimed at reducing water wastage has seen him placed in the finals of a national design competition.
Ryan Allan, 25, of Port Elizabeth’s Sunridge Park, is among 16 finalists selected from more than 200 entries around the country in the competition run by Shift, a non-profit organisation.
It aims to raise awareness among young South Africans about the role that design can play in developing practical and sustainable solutions to everyday challenges.
Being a finalist was something Allan was still processing.
“It’s exciting for me because I will get to meet other designers interested in the same kind of thing I’m interested in,” Allan said.
