TEMPERS flared as parents came face to face with members of the police’s public order policing unit (POP) yesterday over the closure of Joe Slovo Primary School.
Residents had closed the school due to lack of development in the area, situated near KwaDwesi Extension. Shortly after 10am, about 20 POP members in eight police vehicles arrived and told toyi-toying residents that their activities were illegal.
A heated and tense altercation erupted between the protesters and the officers who tried to persuade them to leave the scene and re-open the school.
