THE foster mother who has been implicated in a fraud scam linked to the disappearance of Motherwell toddler Zenixole Solomon will remain in custody for another two weeks while detectives continue searching for the girl.
The three-year-old’s foster mother, Xoliswa Mashiqana, of NU6, Motherwell, was arrested with Thandile Ngcoza, 39, and Sandile Baya, 33 – both advocates at the Master of the High Court in North End – almost two weeks ago for allegedly being involved with an insurance policy payout scam, which police believed is linked to the toddler’s disappearance.
Mashiqana’s bail application was postponed yesterday in the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court to May 21.
Ngcoza and Baya were each released on R500 bail, while the prosecuting authority is opposing bail for Mashiqana, who is now looking to apply to Legal Aid South Africa for a lawyer.
Detectives yesterday refused to comment on the “highly sensitive” investigation.
