WE note with pleasure that Mzimkhulu Qunta has recently become the recipient of the prestigious The Herald GM Citizen of the Year Award (“Selfless Bay principal Qunta Citizen of the Year”, October 24).
We at the Union of Jewish Women wish to congratulate him publicly on this wonderful achievement. You are an asset to your society and an inspiration to all who come into contact with you, Mr Qunta!
We would also like to applaud the Al Fidaa Foundation on the wonderful work it has done to enrich the lives of Qunta’s pupils and to reach out to the wider community (“Foundation supports school on many fronts”, November 3). May you be inspired to continue your good work.
The Union of Jewish Women have been involved with Sakhisizwe High School (amongst many other schools) for many years, providing much needed library books, carpets, chairs and desk, computer equipment, copiers and, this year, every Tuesday each matric pupil at Sakhisizwe received a copy of The Herald with the matric supplement, subscribed by the Union of Jewish Women.
Wishing you all the best over the festive season.
Elaine Racussen, chairwoman, Union of Jewish Women, Port Elizabeth
