The very best creations at the young designers show

OOH la la! Skinnerbek mixes with her fair share of beefcake, biceps and six-packs on the social scene, but Mauritian model Muzammil Buxoo had her ogling – along with plenty of the other sistas – at a young designers showcase in Port Elizabeth  at the weekend.
It was all glitz, glamour, gleaming talent and of course your gallivanting gossip at the Young Designers Unite 2011 fashion show at the Radisson Blu Hotel  on Friday.
Ten local designers and models took turns at the ramp showcasing different collections and fashion ranges, and the event was organised by Lords Innovation, a new modelling agency which opened its doors this month at the Radisson.
The sistas were lovely in drop dead gorgeous designs –  especially Kim-lin Low Kee dressed by Nocebo Nohaji, and a super elegant Babalwa Ratyana in a design by Bulelwa Belewa (see Page 13 to catch a glimpse).
But it was Muzammil in casual gear by Zuhdi Abdol who got temperatures rising with a bronzed buff bod that showed off some sensational sexy beachwear to maximum effect.
Skinnerbek is already planning her next island getaway – she just hopes all Mauritian dudes are built like this!
At Castro’s on Saturday, things were pumping. There was also some serious styling to be found among the supermodel types that were crowding around DJ Brad Spindler who was spinning the decks.
Your g Gossip gGirl and her mates were in party mode overdrive, thanks to the lekka end-of-month vibe.
Skinnerbek always likes a “local lad or sista makes good” story,  and she was thrilled to learn that former Boardwalk general manager – the extremely amiable Graham Vass – has done just that overseas.
Graham, who was the Port Elizabeth casino complex’s very first GM, was later promoted and eventually ended up running the superb Grande Roche hotel in Paarl in his “retirement”. He clearly does not understand the meaning of the word retire!
He is now general manager of the Mantis Collection’s Ellenborough Park – a luxury hotel and spa in Cheltenham in the UK – which was last weekend crowned the UK’s leading country house hotel and the country’s leading spa at the prestigious World Travel Awards.
The awards were voted for by no fewer than 213000 industry professionals, and are labelled by the Wall Street Journal as the Oscars of the travel and tourism industry. So take a bow, Mr Vass – the Bay is proud of you. We know how to make ‘em!
