A capricious inspiration

PORT Elizabeth’s newly-named Caprice was inspired by Italy’s Isle of Capri – “one of the most beautiful locations in the world” – and has nothing to do with the popular Camps Bay establishment with a similar name, Cafe Caprice.

Speaking to The Herald last night, Ben Nyaumwe, director of Gapwedge Properties which owns the beachfront hotspot previously known as Cubana, said the name was also inspired by the “capricious” 24-hour makeover last Thursday, which included redoing tables, bar counters, floors and signs.

“We have a fantastic restaurant location, possibly one of the best along the entire South African coastline in Port Elizabeth and it’s never been celebrated as such before …  This is where our inspiration came from,” Nyaumwe said.
