Missing Uitenhage woman found dead

THE body of a 21-year-old woman who was reported missing about two weeks ago has been found in the Uitenhage township of Kamesh, Eastern Cape police said today.

The woman, Rochelle Lombard, went missing in the early hours of Sunday, March 6, between 2am and 3am, said Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei.

She left home with a friend after receiving a phone call, but shortly after leaving home, she and her friend split up.

“That was the last time she was seen. Her family reported her missing on the 9th March,” said Seekoei.

“Kamesh police found the partially decomposed body late yesterday [Monday] afternoon.” The cause of death was not yet known because a post mortem still had to be done.

Seekoei said this was the second body of a woman that had been found in Kamesh in the past two weeks.

“The first incident was when the body of a 16-year-old teenager was found dumped in a bin. No arrests have been made but police are following up on information.” The police were not investigating a link between the two deaths.
