Following a very successful opening weekend, Centrestage is bringing the music of Bruce Springsteen back to the Boardwalk Amphitheatre for two more performances next Friday and Saturday, before staging the show at East London’s Guild Theatre on April 6 and 7.
Wayne Kallis fronts the sevenpiece Centrestage E-Street band, including a scintillating brass section, to pay tribute to “The Boss” in a review titled USA on Fire! The show takes in many of Springsteen’s most popular hits, such as Dancing in the Dark, Born in the USA, I’m on Fire and Streets of Philadelphia.
The E-Street backing band consists of Arno Erasmus on lead guitar, Devon van Rooyen on drums, Andrew Warneke on bass, Debbie Everaard on keyboards, Shawn Lyons on trumpet and Curtis Kettledas on sax.
Springsteen has sold more than 120 million records worldwide, making him one of the world’s best-selling artists of all time.
“Wayne Kallis is a vocal dead ringer for Springsteen,” said Centrestage’s Gary Hemmings, a longtime Springsteen fan. Shows start at 7.30pm and tickets priced from R130 to R160 are available at Computicket – or call Wendy on 082-6616921.
