Food Truck Friday a cool spot

Hello darlings, it is I, the one who holds the key to all the latest and juiciest gossip you are all just itching to know.

Last Friday night I headed to the Baakens Food Truck Friday. As you know, the wind was just terrible, but that did not stop Bay families and food lovers from gathering at what is becoming one of the trendiest spots to be seen at.

The vibes are always good at this event and Bay musician Mariloe Booysen was also doing her thing as one of the performers on the day. It was my first time hearing her live and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised.

Our city has oodles of talent and it was good to see event organisers giving upcoming artists a chance as well, instead of using the same old same old – no offence to anyone!

On Sunday night I put on my Sunday night best and headed to Oom Cola’s Tarven-Kwa Gqalane for the All Black Street Shutdown where the likes of Sphectacula and DJ Naves, with DJ Zinhle also included in the line-up, were expected to perform. Indeed they did and the only drag about the whole thing was that it was Monday the next day.

People were dancing like they didn’t have to wake up at 6am to get to work.

Also spotted at Oom Cola was Drumboss master DJ Heavy-K, who happily posed with fans.

It looks like Heavy-K has been Sleek Geeking or hitting the gym because he has definitely shed some kilos.

Earlier this week, one of my minions was lucky enough to be an extra at the Mohair SA Brand film shoot at the Tramways building, where fermented grapes were flowing and Claire King from Meridian Wine Merchants made sure she served those glasses with a smile.

The likes of Port Elizabeth designer Armand Dicker, who had flown in just for the shoot (that must be nice), was one of the lucky few to be filmed and walked the New York Fashion Week-inspired ramps.

A thirsty moment for my minion was watching the camera crew running up and down, sweaty from carrying all that equipment with the director yelling cut… Somehow, it did it for the gossip hag.

If you understand fashion show protocol you’d know that the people seated in the front row are the Kimnyes and Queen B’s of society and in this case, seated in the front row was, local designer Morne van der Schyf. Also there were the hair about town couple Fabio Macchia and Corine Ward, who looked very trendy, Theo Klaas who rocked drop-crotch denim pants and the handsome Nicholas Affat also arrived looking super stylish.

Bay Mayor Athol Trollip has been a socialite lately, but quickly disappeared after showing face.

That is all you get this week, my gossip lovers. Ciao for now!
