A team of young creatives from Port Elizabeth are holding a Colours of You Creative Festival on Sunday, November 27, in the Baakens Valley.
The group Colours of You started in 2014 to give exposure to the wide pool of creative prowess in the city and has seen its numbers steadily grow. This weekend’s festival is from 3-8pm at Werk and Chicky’s Yard, in Alabaster Street in the valley.
Tickets cost R30, and are on sale at The Friendly Stranger and on the day of the event.
The group says visitors can expect to see photography, design, illustration, fine art, sculptures, live art, and unique skateboard art pieces.
“On the more physical side of things, b-boys will be tearing up the dance floor, the Kings Beach Skateboarding Crew will wow the crowds, and for the brave, there will be a live tattoo demo from Otherworld Tattoo Studio,” said Gerard Addison, co-founder of Colours of You.
To keep the good vibes going, there will be music performances from Sham de Funk, Luke Kairuz, Umle, AdLib Entertainment, Mariloe and Blacktye.
The fashion forward will have to watch out for showcases from Dalton Smit, Stray Habit, Walk In Closet, Yamyakhoyethu, Sway Bowties, and Sock on That.
“No celebration is complete without food and drinks of course, and you can get your fill from Foongs, Groundfloor Cafe, Han-Made, Frederick & Son, and Richmond Hill Brewing Co Bar facilites are also available,” Addison said.
Colours of You sees itself as the channel for the kaleidoscope of culture and its creative pulse in Nelson Mandela Bay. The Nelson Mandela Development Agency, Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism and Magnetic Storm are assisting with sponsorship.
