Port Elizabeth’s Collegiate Girls’ High School will be hosting schools from across South Africa next week, in the Standard Bank Collegiate Under 15 Water Polo Tournament.
The tournament, which will play host to some of South Africa’s strongest water polo schools, will be held from September 29 to October 2 at The Collegiate Water Polo Arena.
Schools that will be participating include Collegiate Girls’ High, St Stithians College, Hudson Park High, Clarendon High School for Girls, Reddam House, Alexander Road High, Diocesan School for Girls, St Peter’s College, Kingswood College, Pearson High, Crawford College, Roedean, Kingsridge High School for Girls and Herschel Girls’ School.
Big changes have been introduced for this tournament, which will see the matches played in four eight-minute chukkas.
The matches will be played with four eight minute Chukkas. One of the biggest introductions will be that of live video streaming, which will raise the profile of the tournament significantly.
Tournament director Matthew Blair said: “Water polo is an incredibly fast-growing sport.
“Collegiate Girls’ High School is excited to be involved in helping to grow the sport countrywide.
“Standard Bank have been an enormous help in assisting us to raise the profile of this tournament, and we hope to grow it further.”
