Sello plays gay in ‘The Queen’

After being in the industry for decades, actor Sello Maake ka Ncube’s dream of playing a gay character for the first time in his career has come to life.

Speaking to Sowetan about his character Kgositsile on Mzansi Magic’s The Queen‚ Sello said that he has wanted to play a gay character all his life.

“I am playing a gay man for the first time. Honestly‚ I have been wanting to do this for all my life. It’s exciting and liberating to play the role. I would have wanted to play this role in my youth days‚” Sello said.

The actor added that he found out three days before he started shooting for the telenovela that he was going to play a gay character. And that he has been enjoying every moment of it.

The Queen has been a hit with viewers‚ making the trends list every time it airs. It boasts a star-studded cast including Connie Ferguson‚ Natasha Thahane and Mbali Nkosi.
