The following are art exhibitions in Port Elizabeth this week:
The Alliance Francaise on 17 Mackay Street in Richmond Hill is opening an exhibition by Cleone Cull on August 13 at 12 noon. “Names unvoiced but not unknown,” which will run until August 31 shows a body of drawings begun in Paris in 2013 and continued in South Africa. The “Fantastic” exhibition which features a visual dialogue comprising video art and photography by various artists is closing on Thursday August 18. Curated by art historian Nomusa Makhubu and fine artist Nkule Mabaso, the exhibition features work by artists including Pamela Phatsimo Sunstrum, Zina Saro-Wiwa, Aida Muluneh and Dineo Bobape. The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum will open “The Vibrant City” exhibition from September 10 until January 22, 2017. Containing artworks that depict Nelson Mandela Bay from the Art Museum’s permanent collection, the exhibition allows the public to “see the city through the eyes of artists.”
The museum is also currently hosting two exhibitions. The “Yeyethu Sonke: This belongs to all of us” art exhibition which is the museum’s celebration of 60 years of collecting artworks is on until October 2.
The “Lefa La Ntate” exhibition by the winner of Standard Bank Young Artist 2016 award, Mohau Modisakeng is on until September 2.

The GFI Art gallery on 30 Park Drive presents a walkabout with David Moss on Saturday August 20 from 10am. Visitors will be able to ask about his vision while creating the pieces and hear of the metaphorical journey through the seasons of life.
The “Journey of the Heart” exhibition by David Moss is on until August 23.

NMMU ART AND DESIGN
The NMMU Eastern Cape Photography Landscape Exhibition at the North Campus closes on Thursday, August 18. The exhibition, which supports the Trailblazing Campaign in supporting financially challenged students, is at K Block, NMMU Art and Design, North Campus, Summerstrand. Tickets for a competition to be held on the opening night cost R10 at the venue.

The “Off the Wall” exhibition hosted by ArtEC on 36 Bird Street, Central opens on Friday August 19 from 6pm. The exhibition, which will run until September 3, offers artists space to sell artworks that have not yet found a buyer.
