JAZZ is on the Easter menu when the Port Elizabeth Opera House presents Bay jazz soul singer Tyrese ‘‘Black Tye’’ Gulwa in the first of a series of “Jazz’Afro Sundays” at The Barn.

Other artists lined up for subsequent weekends include:

  •  Temba Ncetani and Jazz All Star Jam will perform on April 3;
  • Gerard O’Brien & Friends will play on April 10.
The first act, Black Tye, was born and raised in Port Elizabeth, and honed his distinctive voice with a laid-back Kasi style by performing throughout the Nelson Mandela Bay.

His catchy songs from his EP such as Mamatse and Uzoba Grand Joe have been on both regional and national radio stations, and last year saw him win a nomination in the Best Soul category at the Kumkani Awards.
