IF YOU want to party in style, then the Gautengbased quartet of musicians who make up The Muses will pull you into the weekend with their performance at the Radisson Blu on Friday night.

The Muses are a funky four-piece band who are all classically trained, and they unleash that training on two violins, one viola and a cello to get as many people on their feet and dancing the night away.

“We love the buzz each show brings,” says Olivia Kotze, who founded The Muses four years ago. Today the band includes violinists Mia Snyman and Ashley Bodill, viola player Ruby Ngoasheng and cellist Laetitia van Wyk.

Whether it’s Party Rock, Pata, Pata or Don’t You Worry Child, their biggest floor-fillers are soon to be topped by their new inclusions from Coldplay, John Newman and George Ezra.

The chemistry that makes The Muses spark comes from many different places, says Kotze, and has seen them already record three albums.

“Ruby is the rock chick and is as happy-go-lucky as you get. Mia’s world revolves around music. She loves anything fresh on the market and with a busy teaching schedule there’s never a quiet moment in her life. Laetitia is finishing off her music degree at Pretoria University so she has lots of classical influence and Ashley, the newest band member, also teaches and especially loves inspiring children through our music

The Radisson Blue Hotel is presenting The Muses at Tabu Bar & Lounge on Friday. DJ Dayne Lee will set the mood from 6pm- 8pm, after which The Muses will play a one-hour set, followed by DJ Josh B. Tickets are R130 and include a complimentary Absolut Vodka cocktail.
