ROCK the Red, a new fun run to be held in Walmer next month to raise funds for women who have been abused, is inviting men, women and children in Port Elizabeth to pull on their running shoes and paint the suburb red.

Aloe Pharmacy is hosting the 3.6km walk on Saturday April 11 at 7.30am to raise funds for Yokhuselo Haven in South End, a shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence.

Its staff decided to give the proceeds to Yokhuselo in recognition of the work it does in the metro, and for which supervisor Lindsay Ziehl has been awarded an MBE from Queen Elizabeth.

“Please support us and be part of this event, it’s for men and women but, ladies, please rock those red lips, and if possible wear red,” urged Yokhuselo supervisor Lindsay Ziehl. “You can wear a red T-shirt, or anything red.” She said she was delighted that the pharmacy had chosen Yokhuselo to be the recipient of its first fun run.
