The Cousin back in Bay with quirky new show

getimage (6)RUBBER-FACED comedy stalwart Barry Hilton will be in Nelson Mandela Bay next week with his successful one-man show, The Way I See It.

Local fans will be treated to a glimpse of the quirky goings-on in the head of Port Elizabeth’s favourite cousin at the Boardwalk Amphitheatre on Friday March 13.

Hilton delights in finding the ludicrous and humorous in daily situations.

He says: “I just see things differently. It’s not even as if I’m on the lookout for new material, it literally just jumps out at me.”

He is back on home soil after an eight-show tour of the UK in July 2014, taking part in the eighth Hong Kong International Comedy Festival with shows in Singapore, Macau and Hong Kong in September, and a string of sold-out performances in Australia and New Zealand.

Hilton’s shows have the edge of being off the cuff, bringing together old favourites and new material.

Career highlights of his 30-year funnyman career include performing at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London, being shortlisted alongside John Cleese for best comedy act in Dubai in 2013, and performing at The Improv at Harrah’s in Las Vegas.

In 2013 his industry peers recognised him with the Comics Choice lifetime achiever award.

At the time, Hilton’s emotional response was “this is what I have worked for the whole of my life”.

Humble as ever, Hilton continues to draw capacity crowds across Africa.

He regularly features on television and has six signature DVDs to his name as well as two movies.

While not on the public stage, he records radio and television adverts, performs at corporate events and works on international cruise liners.

Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8.30pm. Tickets at R120 are available at Computicket. The show is suitable for all ages as it contains no explicit language or content.
