SOCIAL CLASH and McArthur Pools are hosting what they hope to be one of Port Elizabeth’s biggest annual pool parties this Saturday.
Event planner and DJ Renaldo Gouws said: “It has been a long time coming. We have finally received the green light to host one of the most epic pool parties Port Elizabeth has ever seen, and to make it even better Shortstraw will be our headlining act.”
Gouws said they had decided to take advantage of the sunny weather the Bay has been having to bid summer farewell with a banger of a party.
He said they had decided the Indie rock band from Johannesburg would be the perfect act to take leave of summer.
“Shortstraw is a young and up and coming band that has often been featured on the airwaves. They are fresh and South African, have African mix within their beats and a summery feel to their music,” Gouws said.
Shortstraw drummer and backing vocalist Gad De Combes said this would be the band’s second visit to the windy city and they looked forward to playing for their fans.
“We played at another venue here last year and we got good feedback from the audiences and they knew our music and sang along to some of the songs,” De Combes said.
He said they were hoping for a good turnout and added audiences should “bring sunscreen”.
Gouws said the slides would be open so partygoers could come in swimming gear.
The party starts at 2pm and tickets are available for R80 online at www.quickit.co.za and R100 at the door. The first 100 pre-sold tickets online will get free vests. No under-18s.
