ONE hundred Walmer High School girls got the surprise of their lives last week when they were treated to free matric farewell dresses ahead of their school dance in April.
A community project, Dream Dress Drive Port Elizabeth, brought 120 dresses to the school, ready for the taking, with the thrilled girls all searching for their perfect number.
The girls screamed their lungs out when they first saw the dresses and squealed even more upon seeing their classmates trying their gowns on.
“I feel like a true princess. The dress shapes my body well and I can move freely,” Nothemba Manki, 19, said.
Ntombentsha Lolo, 19, said: “I really love my dress; it complements my curves and was the first one I tried on.”
Thandile None, 17, said “it was the first dress I put on and it’s almost as if it was made for me because it fits me so well and I look good in it”.
