Breaking Surface exhibition at Galerie Noko

Galerie Noko has been operational for more than six months and already this art gallery is exhibiting work by some of South Africa’s most popular artists.

In the Breaking Surface exhibition, which opened last week, the gallery showcases works from 12 artists, including Nigerian-born art curator Usen Obot.

“Breaking Surface draws from the inherent capabilities and inexhaustible capacities of several artists. The exhibition is conceptualised to usher in the year with visual metaphors and fresh sensibilities that audiences in the Bay have not interacted with,” Obot said.

He said the exhibition seeks to project multimedia dimensions and the dexterity of the artists in foretelling, re-enacting or imaging of the complexities through painting, photography, ceramics and sculpture.
