THE annual Uitenhage Picnic at Willow Dam today is expected to be one for the memory bank, with performances by top local and national artists ranging from hip-hop, reggae and traditional lined up alongside a full programme of DJs, comedians and dancers.
The family-friendly setting will also have a children’s play area, stalls and a beer garden, making this an event for all ages.
National artists such as Mxo, Mandoza, Lulo Cafe, Naked DJ, Thebe as well as Malawian artist Louie X will entertain the crowds.
Kwaito and afrosoul music lovers will also have much to look forward to from both established and upcoming local acts. To get crowd into a jovial mood comedians Mbu ManyLaughs, Tsepiso Nza yo, Siya Seya, King Kotla and Zikhona Msuthu will add to the entertainment line-up.
Local acts 3rd Generation, Skank & the Roots, New Testament, Duntone, Catalyst, Imbewu, Odwa, Khetshemiya, DNG, Dark Okes, and DJs Cute and Fura will also be performing.
There will be a VIP marquee for special guests, sponsors and suppliers on site.
The event starts at 10am and will run until about 10pm tonight.
