Former NMMU student wins big

THE sky is the limit for a former Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University student who won an award at the Sylbna Fashion and Lifestyle Awards.

Oyama Dyosiba, 30, is over the moon after his agency won best modelling and acting agency in South Africa.

The awards, which recognise young up- and-coming entrepreneurs in the field of fashion and lifestyle, were held at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg last month.

"I am filled with gratitude because the awards come from people I work with in the industry.

"When I started my business four years ago, I was faced with a lot of obstacles. It was not easy to leave my nine-to-five job at Johannesburg's City Varsity where I worked as a brand manager for five years," Dyosiba said.

As the owner of Oyama Management Agency, he is a model booker, photoshoot creative director, producer, publicist and an actor.

He has starred in TV shows like Tempy Pushes on SABC1 and A Wannabe on e.tv. - Yoliswa Sobuwa
