Inventive piece's star performer

BETWEEN THE LINES, by Cape Academy of Performing Arts, at Centenary Hall.

I AM safe between the lines. Above and below are secure and I'm lost in the space between. This piece of theatre and dance shows the usual inventive performance one has come to expect from one of Debbie Turner's companies.

Divided into eight parts, each choreographed by different choreographers and musicians, it gives the cast plenty of scope to show their various talents.

Their harmonising voices are a pleasure to listen to and their intertwining and vibrant dancesteps shows the level of technical skills that these students are learning at Turner's school for the performing arts.

The star performer, Mthuthuzeli November, who won the Gold Medal at the South African International Ballet Competition in 2014, has amazing technique. His precision and acting ability are a credit to his hard work.

However the cast as a whole gave an excellent performance and when you read the lineup of teachers from some of Capab's top retired dancers and contemporary teachers, one realises why Turner's companies are at the top of their game. – Ann Knight
