Gogo Felicia on top of her game

[caption id="attachment_38270" align="alignright" width="250"] DRESSED FOR THE OCCASION: Gino Fabbri and his wife, Philippa, made a cute team at the BWA Regional Achievers Awards gala held at the Boardwalk Convention Centre last week. Picture: BRIAN WITBOOI[/caption]

THE PE Businesswomen's Association Regional Business Achiever Awards was a glamorous affair at the Boardwalk last week, with hundreds putting on their party clothes to hear who the city's winning women were.

Former talk show hostess Felicia Mabuza Suttle was the guest speaker. Sjoe, that lady has no shortage of confidence but then maybe if you have met Mandela, Oprah, the pope (and pretty much everyone else) you won't be shy to show off your pictures with them and name-drop along the way.

This glamorous gogo was taking "selfies" before you and I were born, doll! Funnyman Gino Fabbri looked handsome in a business suit and his lovely wife, Philippa, who won a category in this competition last year, is always so lady-like and elegant.

Your Skinnerbek loved the evening dresses Johan Wolmarans designed for the finalists – estate agent Kobie Potgieter looked like Angelina Jolie's Maleficent in her satin gown, while Pinky Kondlo of the Wilderness Foundation wore green, very fitting for the eco-conscious achiever. The larger ladies also looked gorgeous, Wolmarans really knows how to design for a woman's curves. Perhaps I should waltz my sexy behind off to his studio?

On Friday I made my way to the Opera House for the theatre's second concert series where jazz legend Feya Faku was headlining. Performances were delivered by Phumlani Mtiti, Thandokazi, Mo Jazz band and Faku. Thandokazi, who is still new in the industry, was fashionably late but she made up for that with a stellar performance.

I must say the vibe was great but a little too laid back for your Gossip Girl.

KQfm's DJ Zol's birthday party at Infinity lounge and bar in Algoa Park on Saturday saw a whole stack of DJs and artists from Nelson Mandela Bay invited, but just a pity some did not even bother to pitch. The birthday boy rocked in a light pink jacket and jeans. I wonder though where his partner was – or are you single, dahling? (Nudge, nudge, wink, wink!)

But I missed KQfm's station manager Xolani Yisaka. What happened to supporting colleagues?

But the few DJs who were there gave us entertainment of a lifetime. Wow! Mr Luu from Point 5, who was also celebrating his birthday, is truly the king of the drummers. He had everyone eating from the palms of his hands when he started playing his drums. I was just disappointed because some of the Point 5 crew were not there.

From there, it was off to Cubana and although it was in the wee hours of the morning, the vibe was still good and people were dancing non-stop as the DJ knew which tunes to play to keep his crowd entertained.

ANC Youth League member Khuselo Mqhoboli was in high spirits – he just could not stop smiling! Maybe that was from the attention he got from those young girls who were wearing less than ... well, let's just say less!

Purari Gotyela was also there and ahem! Ever since he made little changes to his wardrobe he is getting a lot of attention from the ladies. Dahling, you will thank Skinnerbek later for the free advice on your wardrobe! Keep warm and let's meet again next time. - SKINNERBEK
