LEGENDARY jazz artist Feya Faku will perform at the Port Elizabeth Opera House this evening.

His performance is the second part of the Nelson Mandela Concert Series which aims to feature a national act supported by local acts.

New Brighton-born Feya said the audience could expect a lot of fun. "My beautiful music will give them a warm night."

Feya has recorded three albums as a solo artist. He has also just returned from a three-week tour of Holland.

Faku, once the youngest member of the Winston "Mankunku" Ngozi Quintet, has been associated with classic jazz musicians including Barney Rachabane, Thandi Klaasen and the late Duke Makasi. He has also worked with Abdullah Ibrahim.

The last time Feya performed at the Opera House was earlier this year when he was shooting a documentary about his life. "The documentary is almost done. I have just been busy."

Faku will perform with drummer Ayanda Sikade, Thuto Mutsemme on bass and Nduduzo Makathini on keyboard.

The show will start at 6.30pm with tickets costing R80. Couples will only have to pay R100. – Yoliswa Sobuwa
